Why volunteer?
The Grist Mill and Gardens Historic Site offers a wide variety of special events and activities for the public, especially during the warmer months and volunteers play an important part in providing a great experience to visitors young and old. As we work hard to return life and energy to the site, there will be more activities, more visitors and more opportunities to volunteer than ever.
Joining the Grist Mill volunteer team is a great chance to:
- Learn more about the early history of the Similkameen
- Be a part of a great team
- Gain experience & build your skills
- Share your passion with others & meet people from all over the world
- Be an active part of your community
What do volunteers do?
Volunteers can help in almost every area of the site, including supporting special events, leading activities and helping preserve, research and share this site’s amazing heritage. Some possible volunteer roles include:
- Costumed Interpretation
- Heritage Gardening
- Group Docent
- Special Event Support
- Historical Research
- Site Support and Maintenance
We are also a part of the international WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) program and are happy to welcome volunteers interested in longer-term stays. Our profile is available at http://www.wwoof.ca/user/60228.
