Community Open House and BBQ

Join the volunteers of the Grist Mill Foundation for a FREE community open house and BBQ on Thursday, May 25th at the Grist Mill and Gardens.

The season is about to hit high gear and there are some big changes here this year–we’ve got some brand new events planned for this year and some of our favourites, like our Heritage Fall Fair are back and better than ever. We’re also excited about all the incredible (and Juno Award-winning) artists in the roster for our Summer Concert Series.
The on-site experience has received some big upgrades with a ton of new things to see and do including exceptional heritage interpretation in our Summer Kitchen and pioneer garden with costumed interpreters, as well as lots of demonstrations and activities on site. (Did we mention the cute new baby ducklings?) You might even be able to snag a copy of the brand new Friends of the Grist Mill 2023 cookbook!
Come join us for a special event for our friends and neighbours in the Similkameen and South Okanagan as we share some of what we’re excited about for this coming season.

After the open house and BBQ, we’ll be holding the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Grist Mill Foundation. Everyone interested in the care, preservation and sharing of this site is encouraged to attend.

The Grist Mill Foundation is a charitable registered society run by volunteers from the community and exists to support and enhance the successful operation of the Grist Mill and Gardens historic site in the community’s interest. They work independently and in collaboration with the Grist Mill Community Contribution Corporation, the business that operates the site as well as many other stakeholders interested in this special historical treasure.

There is no charge for this event, although you’re strongly encouraged to buy an annual membership to their Society at the meeting for $5. The Foundation will be providing an update on their previous year’s operations, their future plans as well as presentation by the operator of the site, Chris Mathieson.
