Kid’s Workshop: Zucchini Racers
September 26 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm PDT
Join us as we make a race car out of a giant zucchini to be raced during our zucchini races at our Fall Fair. You’ll bring a large zucchini and we’ll provide basic wheels and some decoration items to make your racer uniquely yours. (You can also bring your own wheels if you’d like. (Click here for race rules to make sure your plan meets our expectations.) Then, on the Saturday of our Heritage Fall, we’ll put them through their paces and see who’s fastest on race day!
For inspiration, here’s a video of zucchini races at the Salt Spring Island Fall Fair: https://youtu.be/_hgL8y2isTQ?t=65
This workshop is suitable for children of all ages, but children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult. (One adult can accompany multiple children, as necessary. Assisting adults are welcome at *no charge*.)

Mark your calendars! On September 28th and 29th, the Grist Mill will be celebrating the 10th annual Grist Mill Heritage Fall Fair, and we’re excited to offer a variety of competition categories just for youth. To help them shine, we’re hosting special after-school workshops designed to give kids the chance to focus on their entries.
Each workshop runs from 3:00 to 4:30 PM and includes all the materials your child needs to craft their masterpiece. Once finished, their creations will be proudly displayed during the fair weekend.
As a bonus, every participant in these workshops will receive a free one-day admission pass to the Heritage Fall Fair! Don’t miss out on this fun and creative opportunity!
After-school transportation may be available from Cawston Primary School. Check with us for more information!
