ARTIST INFO
For this special show, we’re excited to host two incredible acts on the same bill, Sarah Jane Scouten and Elise and Adam. Read more about both of these exceptional acts below:
ABOUT SARAH JANE SCOUTEN: Four-time Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, Sarah Jane Scouten’s music delivers a signature mix of vintage folk and country music, with modern sounds and subjects. An ever expanding palette brings a freshness to her brand of ambient indie Americana — or “space-country” as she likes to call it. It’s as relevant to today as it is rooted in the music of her forebears. Touring throughout North America and Europe, this seasoned performer boasts a top-notch live band and considerable acclaim for her last four full-length albums.
Her fourth album “Confessions”, recorded in Toronto with veteran producer Andre Wahl, is a further exploration of Americana sounds and song forms, ranging from indie-pop and folk rock to gritty hints of 70’s David Bowie and T-Rex. Scouten doesn’t lose herself at the helm of so many influences, but ties it together by invoking Sturgill Simpson, classic Tom Petty and Emmylou Harris’ Wrecking Ball. It wouldn’t be a Sarah Jane Scouten record without throwing in curve balls like Serge Gainbourg-inspired “Darkside of the Moon” or the intentionally blunt yet somehow Broadway-esque “Pneumonia.” It is a collection of revelatory songs — a series of confessions — which valorize, condemn and eulogize the most important relationships of her life to new harrowing heights.
“Drawing upon traditional melodies that almost biologically are instantly singable, but combining them with emotions, sentiments and stories that are relatable even now. Stan Rogers was able to do it, Ron Hynes was able to do it, Kate McGarrigle was able to do it – and Sarah Jane Scouten is able to do it.”

ABOUT ELISE BOEUR & ADAM IREDALE-GRAY: A founding member of indie-folk band Fish & Bird, Adam Iredale-Gray is a versatile guitarist and fiddler with deep roots in Irish traditional music and a commitment to innovation. Fiddler and Hardanger fiddle player Elise Boeur draws from the wells of Norwegian and Swedish fiddle music, melds in fistfuls of arcane influences, and emerges with a multi-faceted sound grounded in Nordic traditions. Usually seen touring with their JUNO nominated neo-folk quintet Aerialists, this is an opportunity to hear their roots come out in a duo setting, as they dig into tunes on hardingfele, guitar, and raging twin fiddles.
Their show is a masterful exploration of traditional music collected from years of travel, performance, and social music making. A Norwegian gangar learned in the mountains of Telemark, Irish jigs picked up from countless sessions, a modern Icelandic jazz tune from a favourite record, a Swedish polska lifted from a community dance – the thread that connects these pieces is Boeur and Iredale-Gray’s open-hearted, contagious love of the melodies.
